CBD Basics

  • Cannabidiol (CBD) and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are both cannabinoids, sisters to the cannabis plant. CBD is derived from hemp. One of the oldest crops in the world, hemp has been used to produce clothing and paper for thousands of years. On the other hand, THC is found in large quantities in marijuana and hashish, so these are intoxicants. In short, THC is psychotropic, but CBD is not. This means that CBD does not induce a high.

CBD has far more uses than THC. CBD is effective as a dietary supplement or for cosmetic purposes and is freely available in the United Kingdom. CBD oil does not contain any animal ingredients or animal products and is therefore vegan. The popularity of CBD oil, also known as cannabidiol oil, is growing rapidly in Britain and more and more people are discovering the wide-ranging benefits of CBD.

Even better news is that our CBD oil contains less than 0.2% THC, which means that there is no psychoactive effect. In Britain, only cannabidiol oil with a THC content of below 0.2% is legal to buy and sell.

  • Full Spectrum: Full spectrum CBD products contain CBD along with other cannabinoids. Terpenes and flavonoids are also extracted from the plant. Research has found that the combination of several cannabinoids enhances the so-called entourage effect. This effect leads to a more balanced feeling.

Broad spectrum: As with full spectrum CBD, several other cannabinoids and terpenes are present in broad spectrum CBD, however, in these products, the THC has fully been removed during the extraction process.

Isolate: Isolate products are the purest form of CBD. All other cannabinoids and parts of the plant have fully been removed.

  • Disappointed by the limited possibilities with conventional medicines, more and more people are turning to alternative solutions. Herbal medicines, natural remedies and CBD have all proven popular for pain relief.

The positive reviews around CBD abound. Since using CBD, people who had almost lost hope in finding the right treatment for them are now seeing their conditions improve and their self-confidence skyrocket. CBD is helping them heal and their satisfaction is clear.

CBD oil also contains omega-3 fatty acids, omega-6 fatty acids and gamma-linolenic acid, all of which have a positive effect on the blood pressure and the appearance of skin. It contains vitamin E in large quantities, as well as vitamins B1 and B2 (riboflavin). Finally, important trace elements such as iron, potassium, calcium, copper, manganese, magnesium, sodium, phosphorus and zinc are naturally present in the oils.

The use of CBD oil as a dietary supplement has little to no undesirable side effects.

The use of CBD is not recommended for children and for women during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you are taking omeprazole or diazepam at the same time, consult your doctor before using CBD products.

Scientists have discovered that the body is able to produce cannabinoids itself. If endocannabinoid levels are too low, they can no longer positively influence body functions. The same also applies to pets, which also have their own endocannabinoid system.

  • If CBD oils are used properly, there should be no side effects. However, there are a few things to keep in mind when starting to use CBD oil, especially if you’re a beginner.

Taking too big a dose at any one time could cause diarrhoea, dizziness, headaches, loss of appetite and excessive fatigue in extreme cases. People who know they are very sensitive should monitor their body closely when taking CBD for the first time, as there can always be undesired reactions, even if the CBD oil is completely organic.

Pregnant and breastfeeding women should generally refrain from taking CBD oil, as there are no long-term studies available yet. Furthermore, people taking acid inhibitors such as omeprazole should discuss the use of CBD oil with their doctor.

In multiple studies, no major side effects of CBD oil have been observed, even at very high doses. However, there is no long-term study on the side effects, which is why scientists cannot make any definitive statement here. What is certain, however, is that there is absolutely no toxic reaction when taking CBD oil.

  • Many people buy the capsules instead of the oil , due to the strong hemp taste. However it takes longer for the body to release the effects of the capsules, (up to 1 hour). The effect of the capsules lasts between 6-10 hours. In contrast the oil is absorbed by the body after only 15-20 minutes, but the effect only lasts for 4-6 hours. Many people choose the oil because it is easier to regulate the dose as needed. Whereas the capsules have a higher individual dose, which can make it a little more difficult to regulate. The capsules are of course more practical than the oil because they can be easily transported, whilst the oil is not really very practical for transport. So there are advantages and disadvantages for both products. In the end, you just have to decide what is the right product for you.

  • The human cell system is based on the constant renewal of cells. In an ongoing process, cells die to make room for new cells. Within the human body is a so-called endocannabinoid system. This means that receptors exist within us that are prepared for the ingestion of cannabinoids, and can recognize and react to them; these are called CB1 and CB2 receptors. The CB1 receptor especially is thought to be of central importance for the brain regions that control memory and movement. The CB2 receptor has a major influence on the immune system.

  • CBD cannot be "overdosed", studies have also shown that up to 80mg / day is well tolerated. However, if you start too soon with a high dosage, you could potentially experience some rare side effects of CBD. These include symptoms such as dizziness, nausea or a dry mouth. Any side effects should, however, usually subside after some time.
