CBD capsules
The term CBD has become increasingly popular in recent years, and more and more people are now incorporating CBD products in multiple ways in their daily life. Cannabidiol has undoubtedly become a part of many peoples’ routines across many cultures, for the simple reason that it possesses a multitude of health benefits and also, CBD is quite simple to consume.
That being said, many of us feel obliged to educate ourselves about what we eat, why we eat, and what it does to us.
At Nordic Oil, our commitment to establishing awareness, educating people, and making CBD more accessible is at the forefront of our ethos and resonates in our high-quality and innovative products.
We recommend taking some time to research, understand and make informed decisions while buying Nordic Oil CBD products.
Below is a detailed summary of our CBD capsules.
What are CBD capsules?
CBD capsules are simply CBD oil packed in capsule form. Sometimes they are referred to as CBD oil capsules or CBD tablets. But there is more to know.
Just like CBD oil, using CBD capsules is an easy process. Some people cannot tolerate the earthy taste or flavour of the cannabis Sativa plant extracts. Similarly, people who are new to CBD can also find this off-putting. In this respect, capsules are a handy, tasteless, and hassle-free method for ingesting cannabinoids into our system.
CBD capsules come in different sizes, strengths, and varieties, which helps you choose the right product that suits you.
But many people do not feel comfortable with taking capsules, simply because it’s not as easy as swallowing food or gulping down liquids. There is also the risk that a capsule can get stuck in your throat if you're not used to it. So to be safe, make sure to swallow the capsules with a lot of water. Before we go deeper into the science behind CBD capsules, let’s look at why Nordic Oil capsules use the ‘soft gel’ formula and why our capsules can be so beneficial for your general wellbeing.
At Nordic Oil, we are dedicated to creating products which make CBD accessible for you. The superior bioavailability of our CBD capsules allows us to realise this goal, by increasing the absorption of CBD via a practical dosage method.
The CBD used in the capsules is from certified hemp plants. And the carrier oil used in our CBD capsules is black cumin seed oil, (also known in Latin as Nigella Sativa oil). Black seed oil possesses immense health benefits. The combination of CBD and black cumin seed oil in our capsules, therefore, makes for a very compelling package.
What is a CBD capsule made from?
Our CBD is produced from organically-sourced, non-GMO hemp from certified European suppliers and undergoes regular quality checks. Depending on climate and seasonality, we source our hemp from different suppliers across Europe to guarantee that we always get the highest quality product.
The CBD oil used in the capsules is full-spectrum CBD oil that contains all the naturally occurring substances found in the cannabis plant, including; terpenes, flavonoids, and other cannabinoids. These work together to optimise the effect of the cannabinoids, otherwise known as the entourage effect.
Our CBD capsules are gluten-free and free from artificial preservatives or colourings. The products are of the highest quality and have lab reports.
Nordic Oil CBD Capsules - The Science
Our CBD capsules have a unique softgel formulation that uses liposomal technology to deliver CBD more effectively.
What are Liposomal CBD capsules?
Liposomes are an advanced technology used in our products and act as ‘carriers’ of the CBD molecule. The liposomal formulation was developed in order to protect active compounds until they reach a designated area within the body.
Liposomes are microscopic containers or vesicles that resemble a soft bubble. The outer layer is made from lecithin (a phospholipid). A unique aspect of these phospholipids is that they form closed structures when they are hydrated. Hence active compounds can be firmly encapsulated within these bubbles.
Ultimately liposomes serve as an efficient means of transport to supply active substances to the body. Moreover, this approach is far more superior to the traditional capsules in terms of bio-availability. On top of this, their microscopic size, as well as their hydrophobic and hydrophilic nature are all factors that contribute greatly to increasing the potential absorption of the CBD molecules.
In recent times, food, farming, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries have begun to extensively make use of liposome encapsulation technology for two main reasons:
- To improve the delivery and stability of compounds.
- Safe-guard the functions of the Compound within.
Are CBD capsules suitable for beginners?
Well, one could argue both ways.
The CBD oil in our CBD capsules is hemp plant extract just like our other CBD products.
Beginners who are new to CBD may not be used to the earthy taste of CBD oils, or they may find the sublingual method of taking CBD a little uncomfortable. In such a case, CBD capsules provide a quick ‘on the go’ solution. Also, the strength of CBD in our CBD capsule formulations ranges from 6.4mg up to 16mg per capsule - this dosage is equivalent to 1 x drop 15% CBD Oil or 3x drops 15% CBD Oil, respectively. Hence the capsules are suitable for both micro and standard dosing.
On the other hand, our oils are available in a wide range of CBD strengths; beginning with 5% and going up to 20%. So, depending on user experience, you have more flexibility with the dosage here. If you are a beginner who is eager to incorporate CBD as a part of your daily diet, you may begin with the 5% CBD oil, for example.
Some people who are new to CBD also try CBD isolate, which is the purest form of CBD (minus all the terpenes, flavonoids, and different cannabinoids). But what they might miss is the entourage effect.
In short, it is based on the individual choice to opt between CBD capsules or other forms of CBD products. If you have specific questions, our team of dedicated experts in our customer service are happy to assist you.
How to take CBD capsules?
Using CBD capsules is simple and easy.
Take the required quantity (eg: 1 CBD Softgel), place in your mouth, and swallow. If you are not comfortable gulping capsules, we advise taking them together with a lot of water. Alternatively, some customers also take them together with their tea or coffee.
How many capsules should I take?
The recommended daily dose of CBD capsules is 2 softgels per day. Each capsule contains 6.4mg of CBD, which equates to one drop of 15% CBD Oil.
However, based on your requirements, personal experience with CBD, or doctor’s advice, the dosage may be increased accordingly.
How long does the capsules effect last?
The food that we take interacts within our body in a complex way. Similarly, CBD interacts through several different mechanisms, for which research is still ongoing. Therefore, several aspects have to be considered, such as; body weight, metabolism, lifestyle, route of administration, dosage, goal, frequency of intake, and pre-existing health conditions, etc. This is important in order to evaluate the time your body takes to break down the capsule.
After ingesting CBD capsules, it takes a little longer for the body to release the effect of the capsule. You should feel the effect after approximately 60 minutes. This is due to the ‘first-pass effect’, as the capsules must first pass through the digestive system. The effects of the capsules can then last for 6-10 hours.
On the other hand, CBD oil that is taken sublingually is absorbed by the body within 15-30minutes, but the effect could only last between 4-6 hours comparatively.
Is CBD addictive?
No, there is no evidence of CBD capsules or any other CBD products causing addition even in heavy CBD users.
What is the difference between CBD capsules, CBD softgels and CBD tablets?
CBD products come in different forms that can be consumed through different routes of administration. It is up to an individual’s choice and suitability to find the one that best suits you. Every form has its own pros and cons. What suits you, might not suit another person and vice versa.
When it comes to taking CBD, follow the step-up method or the ‘start low, go slow’ approach in order to get the most sustainable and consistent benefits. With this in mind, we are driven to educate you with reliable information and awareness on CBD.
Let us take a quick overview of the differences between tablets, capsules, and liposomal softgels.
- Tablets, Capsules, and Liposomal softgels are for oral administration.
- Tablets are metabolised by the body. They travel to the liver, get absorbed into the bloodstream, and then are released in a distributive pattern inside the body. In the case of traditional capsules, once the outer shell is broken down in the digestive tract, it goes through the same process as tablets.
- On the other hand, liposomal softgels, (although also passing through the digestive system), function by protecting the CBD from liver enzymes and thus allow the CBD to target particular cells or tissues more effectively. Moreover, this process provides a sustained and systematic release of molecules.
- Tablets come in different shapes, colors, and sizes, and they can either be swallowed or chewed. Capsules are mostly cylindrical shaped. They come in different colours but cannot be chewed. Liposomes are shaped like a bubble or a pea. They adopt the colour of the content and can only be swallowed.
- A tablet can be broken up, powderised, or dissolved in water. Capsules can be easily opened, but this is not advised/safe to do so before ingesting. Liposomal softgels cannot be easily opened.
- Tablets are solids. Capsules contain or carry solids, powder, or micro granules. Liposomes are best suited to carry lipids and oils.
- Most importantly, the potency and bioavailability both get degraded during digestion, metabolism, and excretion in both tablets and traditional capsules. On the contrary, liposome softgel capsules offer far superior potency and bioavailability because they are released further into the body. They deliver smaller amounts in targeted tissues without getting dispersed in the body before absorption.
What are the benefits of CBD capsules?
There are several benefits of CBD capsules. They offer easy and precise dosage. This way you know what the CBD content of capsules is and exactly how much CBD you are taking. Bioavailability is the foremost benefit that capsules have to offer. And in most cases, traditional capsules fail to provide.
To address this problem, a breakthrough in product development is 'liposomal delivery.' And our product development team has successfully embraced this advanced technology.
Therefore, Liposomes have:
- enhanced the value and suitability of carriers,
- and the efficacy of nutrients, agents, adjuvants, antigens, etc, by effectively transporting them to the body.
Are there side effects of CBD capsules?
Generally, there are no adverse side effects reported on consuming CBD capsules. However, on a case-to-case basis, one may experience dry mouth, mood changes, or drowsiness. Again, these reactions could vary based on age, metabolism, lifestyle, prevailing health condition, ongoing medication for any disease or condition, etc.
For people suffering from any ailment or health condition, please make it a practice to talk to your medical advisor about incorporating CBD into your wellness routine.
General safety precautions
Nowadays, it is easy to be wrongly influenced by misleading ‘DIY’ video tutorials on how to make CBD capsules at home. Be aware! These tutorials ignore several important aspects of the encapsulation process., such as; safety, quality, levels of THC, contamination, toxicity, and storage.
All these matters as much as efficacy. Also, there is no guarantee on the standards used, due to the lack of validated lab results. Such practices should only be carried out by medical professionals.
Try to follow a well-balanced diet, drink water regularly, maintain an active lifestyle, and of course, a daily dose of CBD could help make your day complete.
