Details

Calming Oil for Dogs is a complementary feed from NatuPet, part of the Nordic Oil family. It is formulated to support calm behaviour during stressful situations, such as travelling, fireworks or veterinary visits, and is also suitable for daily use.

The base is cod liver oil, which naturally provides omega-3 fatty acids, including EPA and DHA. These fatty acids have been studied in relation to canine behaviour and stress-related responses. The oil also contains extracts of valerian root, chamomile and lemon balm. Valerian root is traditionally used in calming herbal preparations and has been studied in relation to canine relaxation. Chamomile is traditionally used for relaxation, and lemon balm is traditionally associated with soothing support.

Vitamin E is included as an antioxidant. The liquid can be mixed with food or given on a small piece of food, with the amount adjusted to your dog’s weight. NatuPet uses naturally sourced ingredients in products developed for everyday pet care.

Happy Customers

I mix a small amount into my dog’s dinner and she eats it without leaving any. The dropper makes it easy to measure for her size. It arrived quickly and well packed.

Elena M.

Clear instructions by weight, which I needed for a larger dog. We add it on days with more going on, such as car journeys. It has become a simple part of the routine.

James K.

My dog takes it on a small piece of food, so I do not have to hide a tablet. I asked customer service about the daily amount and had a clear reply the same day.

Sofia R.

The bottle is practical to store and the oil mixes into wet food without any trouble. After a few weeks I am still using it on busier days. Nothing complicated about it.

Henrik L.

Delivery was prompt and the pipette is accurate. I like that I can split the amount through the day. My dog accepts it with his usual meal.

More about calm behaviour

What situations can be stressful for dogs?

Many dogs find travelling, fireworks, veterinary visits, training, busy places, or a change in routine unsettling. What bothers one dog may not bother another. A regular routine, a familiar space, and calm handling around these events are common ways owners prepare. A complementary feed such as Calming Oil for Dogs can be used alongside those habits when a dog may benefit from extra support during stressful moments. It does not replace training or veterinary care.

What does complementary feed mean?

A complementary feed is a pet food with a high content of certain substances, intended to be given alongside the daily ration. It is not a complete diet and it is not a veterinary medicine. Calming Oil for Dogs is a complementary feed for dogs, based on cod liver oil, and is meant to be mixed with food or placed on a small piece of food.

Why are valerian, chamomile and lemon balm used in dog nutrition?

Valerian root is traditionally used in calming herbal preparations and has been studied in relation to canine behaviour and relaxation. Chamomile is a familiar botanical traditionally used for relaxation. Lemon balm is traditionally associated with soothing support, and emerging canine research has looked at behavioural responses during mild stress. These extracts are sensory additives in this oil. They are not a treatment for a behavioural disorder.

What do omega-3 fatty acids from cod liver oil provide?

Cod liver oil naturally provides omega-3 fatty acids, including EPA and DHA. Omega-3 fatty acids have been studied in relation to canine behaviour and stress-related responses. In this formula, cod liver oil is the base of the oil, and vitamin E is added as an antioxidant. Because the oil comes from fish, it is not suitable for a fish-free diet.

When should I speak to a veterinarian?

Speak to a veterinarian before use if your dog is under 12 weeks old, pregnant, lactating, or already receiving sedatives. Stop use if you notice excessive drowsiness or gastrointestinal discomfort, and ask your vet for advice. Sudden changes in behaviour, pain, or distress also need a veterinary assessment. A feed can support calm behaviour during stressful situations.
